ZiForKrim Colabs are collaborative applied research projects jointly developed by teaching and research staff from the UPV/EHU and research staff from the Scientific Police Unit of the Ertzaintza.

Each project is led by one principal investigator from each participating institution. This dual leadership ensures that the research combines academic expertise, forensic practice and direct applicability to real investigative contexts.

ZFK COLAB 03/2026 – DNA Preservation

This project studies the effects of different reagents and temperatures on the preservation of DNA in blood and epithelial samples deposited on various surfaces.

ZFK COLAB 02/2026 – Lophoscopic Analysis

This project analyses the prevalence of observable phenomena in lophoscopic ridges and their possible use as qualitative forensic indicators.

ZFK COLAB 01/2026 – Forensic Trichology

This project focuses on the development of a reference collection of animal and human hair samples for forensic research and comparative analysis.
